PALERMO AND CEFALU
This is one of the most beautiful cities I have seen so far. I would risk a statement claiming that it is the most beautiful city in the world, since this is purely objective. But if you take a moment and look at the photographs I took while nearly running through it, you will maybe appreciate the beauty and charm of it.
Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten a chance to go back there yet (those who read my previous article regarding Palermo will know that I got a chance to spend an incredible few hours there) but I’m still planning a trip in the nearest future. It has been so extremely hot here on Sicily that, to be honest, I don’t even feel like sticking my nose out the door, much less making a whole trip to the other side of the island. I think I just wait till it cools down, which may as well be as early (or late) as September.
There is another place near Palermo I think is absolutely worth seeing. It’s called Cefalu and it is right at the sea, so it really has a charm of a seaside resort. It’s small but extremely enchanting and you can spend the whole day at the beach filled with beautiful white sand and then go to a restaurant in the evening. There are plenty nice ones right there and the shore or you can simply walk a few blocks into the town and find a peaceful and enticing place in one of the numerous tiny alleys.
These two places are definitely worth seeing and if you ever get a chance to visit Sicily, you simply must include them in your itinerary. You will not be disappointed, even if you do it on your own, without a guide. And here are some pictures…
