FAT-BURNING FOOD? TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?
Most of us battle weight and the extra fat for the most part of our lives (especially if you’re a woman). However, in my 30s, I find the reasons behind my trying to keep certain weight are more of health issues rather than body image.
I wish someone had told me years ago that a few extra pounds wouldn’t be such a great deal anymore. But then again, would I have listened and stopped obsessing about my weight? Probably not…
So let’s move on to the issue at hand… Food burning fat may sound like it’s too good to be true but it actually works. Of course, to get rid of all the flab you may or may not have just eating right is not enough. But whatever helps, right?
So here are the 9 types of food that will help you burn some of that unsightly flab:
- Lean protein—it takes more energy for your body to process protein than fat so it burns more calories as well. The best kinds are chicken breasts, lean beef or pork (loin), fish (some kinds also have Omega-3 fatty acids) and beans (loaded with fiber as well).
- Whole grains—eating more whole grains, e.g. oatmeal, whole wheat bread or pasta, can actually help reduce some of your midsection fat.
- Grapefruit—it’s loaded with vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant and helps you body with a number of various processes, like burn fat! Grapefruit also lowers the insulin levels, which keeps you from feeling hungry longer.
- Green Tea—one of the best things you can add to your diet. Not only does it contain lots of antioxidants (keeping you younger), but also has been linked to reducing heart disease and cancer. And, of course, it help keep that weight off by increasing your metabolism.
- Spice food—it temporarily increases your metabolism (that’s probably why we sweat during a spicy meal…), which burns fat easier for that time. However, don’t eat too much of it if you’re not used it, as it may upset your stomach.
- Apples—contain pectin, which regulates how much fat your cells can absorb and are full of fiber so swap your not-so-good snacks with these delicious fruit.
- Cinnamon—helps your body process sugar more effectively and lowers blood sugar levels (high blood sugar causes your body to store more fat, and we don’t want that now, do we?).
- Low-fat or fat-free dairy—research shows that people who eat dairy (low-fat or fat-free that is) loose more weight than those who don’t.
- Water—if you’re dehydrated your body cannot burn fat or process anything effectively. Moreover, you will feel low on energy and you know we need that to keep the exercise routine going. So keep yourself hydrated… And remember that drinking tea (green!) also counts as water content. So 8 glasses a day really is not that much…
I incorporated most of these things in my diet years ago and because I like some of them a lot, I refused to get rid of them (like dairy or teas) when the so-called experts were urging people to do so. Remember the time when drinking tea or coffee was really bad for you? Well, I never stopped and I guess all this time I was doing something good for my body.
