“BROTHERS AND SISTERS”

Two years ago, when I heard about this new show about the so-called ‘all-American’ family, I wasn’t one to jump right into it. To be honest, I didn’t even watch the first few episodes because I thought it really was not my kind of series…

One night, however, there was absolutely nothing else on telly so (out of pure boredom) I gave “Brothers and Sisters” a chance. And I was lost… Something happened during that episode and I was sold for the rest of the duration of the show. And I don’t just mean this one episode… I mean the whole series and all of its seasons (hope there will be many).

Who can go wrong with witty dialogues, elements of drama and comedy hand in hand and the cast that amazes you with their talented performances in each episode? If one can mess that dish up, they have no place in the show business… Luckily for us, viewers, the producers and the director have noticed a good thing when they came across it…

And I must tell you, I’m the biggest fan! Who wouldn’t like watching a family of many colorful characters engage in heated discussions each time they gather round a table, kitchen island or simply a bottle of wine? Of course, Rob Lowe as part of the cast doesn’t hurt any, either. Isn’t he just delicious? He truly is like a good wine—better with age (quite fitting to the theme of the show, actually…) And speaking of ‘better with age’, Calista Flockhart looks a lot better since her days as Ally McBeal, doesn’t she? A little meat on her bones definitely suits her…

And there’s Sally Field. An actress of her caliber brings quality no matter what or who she plays but she really is fantastic as Nora Walker. She makes you love and hate her at the same time and even see you own mother in her from time to time… Field brings a whole new level to the prime time TV and raised the bar high for the ones to follow.

I thoroughly enjoy the dynamics among the characters (and actors…), and with a thrilling and attention-grabbing story line, I can barely wait from one episode to the next. And I definitely reserve one evening for my meetings with the Walker family…
